I wasn’t planning on falling in love!
Flirt a bit – yes!
But a full-blown obsession . . .?
. . .and then a deep, respectful love?
I’ve been home for a while after traveling two months and 10,200 miles seeking out the people who mold the US chocolate experience. And do I have things to tell you.
The first is – I’ve fallen and can’t get up. I am unabashedly in love with the American chocolate scene and the people who create it.
I interviewed more than 90 of them and they welcomed me into their shops, offices and homes and shared with me what inspires them, what maddens them and what keeps them forever chocolate.
Here are just a few you’ll be meeting:
Traders bearing beans from Dr. Seuss-like cacao trees.

Tinkerers and inventors creating chocolate alchemy in small, bright corners.
Intrepid pathfinders in the craft chocolate movement.
Established chocolate makers setting trends.

Chocolate manufacturers going large.

Builders of chocolate infrastructure.

Chocolatiers turning fine chocolate and creative ingredients into scrumptious art.

Quirky corner stores and chichi shops.
Influencers shaping our knowledge and appreciation.
And, of course, consumers. They are what it’s all about, right?
But before I whisper tales from the road, I have an amazing story to share right in my own backyard here in Las Vegas. If you haven’t already signed up to receive word of my next post, do it now! You won’t want to miss this next one.
